Filming today at Outbox?

What's going on today at the Outbox house?! Filming that's what! But first, let me set the scene.

Waking up is always a challenge and I certainly wasn't ready to go to the morning session let alone be ready to see a camera team in the kitchen as I went to get my morning tea. However, having lived in the Outbox house for a week already I decided to just roll with it. Life at Outbox can get pretty crazy and it started to look like today wasn't going to be an exception. A hasty change of clothes later I found myself on the steps of the Outbox house smiling into a camera that is used to film Grand Designs. See? Life here is nuts.

Starting the sessions for the day was Emma McGuigan (godmother Stemette) who gave us an interview on her personal journey into STEM. She imparted to us her story starting from her engineering degree and uni days to her present life working in Accenture. Like all the personal stories about successful individuals' journeys into STEM, hers was just as inspirational and reinforced my willpower into starting a job in STEM when I graduate.

Who would've guessed that the next thing we girls did was go out into the garden and dance to "Who run the world" by Beyonce with a camera crew filming us? Also why did I have to show off my "dance skills" by doing The Worm? God knows why but I'll keep this quiet from now on as to not let out any "spoilers". Rest assured, our craziness, creativeness and (hopefully) logical business side will be fully shown when this all gets released.

Continuing onto the second session of the day we had a talk about autonomous and electric cars from a lady called Jenny Stannard from the Transport Research Lab. Split into groups we discussed the ethical, legal and social means to the prospect of autonomous cars alongside the pros and cons such as the loss of jobs in the short term and in the long term the overall health of the general population in the future due to the increased alcohol consumption due to driver-less cars.

To round off the day there was a little more filming and then some exercise (yoga and dance) to end the hectic day. Sore muscles are definitely to be had tomorrow!
